Our Staff

Larry Wilder, D.V.M.

Dr. Wilder has been the owner of Lawrence Park Animal Hospital since 1992, just 3 years after he graduated from the University of Guelph's Ontario Veterinary College with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He opened a second small animal hospital in 2009, Bayview York Mills Veterinary Services. Dr. Wilder is a member of the Ontario Veterinary Medial Association. He lives in uptown Toronto with his wife, 2 children, cat Tashmoo and two dogs, Aquina and Vinnie.

Rael Rifkind, B.V.Sc.

In 1997, Dr. Rifkind graduated from the University of Pretoria in South Africa with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. He spent the earlier years of his career in small animal practices in South Africa and the United Kingdom before moving to Canada and joining the Lawrence Park Animal Hospital team in 2002. Rael's professional focus is on all aspects or preventative medicine. He lives in downtown Toronto with his wife, daughters, and cat, Archie.

Josie - Back Office Manager, Registered Veterinary Technician

Josie has always had a fuzzy spot in her heart when it came to animals and knew that her life would somehow include helping them. Josie graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College in King City in 2005 and shortly thereafter became a Registered Veterinary Technician. She has been a member of the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians since becoming an R.V.T. and enjoys combining her professionalism and love of animals in her every day life. She has two furry felines, Princess and Monaco, who she cares for at home and is anticipating the day when she will have a canine companion joining her mini menagerie.

Carolyn - Front Office Manager, Reception

Carolyn's strong love of animals enticed her to join the Lawrence Park Animal Hospital team in late 2008. With a background in 9-1-1 communication, she knows how manage emergency situations when they arise in the clinic, and brings with her over 7 years of customer service experience. When she is not working at the clinic, she enjoys playing hockey and snowboarding in the winter, and playing baseball in the summer. Carolyn has a little cat named Colby, and hopes to add a few dogs to her four-legged family in the near future.

Melanie - Reception, Veterinary Assistant

Melanie joined Lawrence Park Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant in 1994. Through her years of veterinary hospital experience, she has acquired a vast knowledge of animal wellness and disease issues, as well as skills in animal handling and nursing. Her compassionate attitude is reflected through her communication with and advice offered to pet owners when filling the role of receptionist, as well as through her dedication to patient care when working as a veterinary assistant. Melanie knows first hand the anxiety and fear of having a chronically sick pet, and is always open to providing guidance to pet owners coping with their own pet's illness. Melanie lives uptown with her two cats, Minnie and Melvin, and, one day, hopes to provide a home for a special needs French bulldog.
